Abrasive Blasting

Finish Line operates two programmed blasting machines, semi-automatic and automatic ones, with capacity of hundreds implants per hour. Any blasting media may be used for the blasting, through alterating the process within the wide range of parameters supported by the machines’ units.
Finish Line is well experienced in commercial running of Alumina, Apatite and Hydroxy Apatite blasting, while other blasting materials’ implementation is in the progress, no obstacles are expected.
Abrasive blasting is used for plowing the implants’ surface to make it rough and porous to increase contact area implant-tissue and to create cavities presumably contributing to osteointegration.
Blasting media particles create cavities all over the implants’ surface, while most of the particles stick inside the metal body of the implants, closing the cavities they created. To remove the particles and to open the cavities, further etching is carried out.
Geometry of the cavities, as well as the fraction of particles trapped in the surface and the strength of their seizure, depend on the blasting parameters, nature and geometry of the particles and type of the metal the implants made of. Immediately after blasting, before opening the cavities by etching, the surface topography of blusted implants looks similar after any kind of blasting.
